State Park Tuesday: Kings Mountain

Two weeks after visiting Chester State Park, it was time to hit the road again.

So February 2nd, I drug a friend visiting from out of town the 45 minutes west to hike Kings Mountain State Park in Blacksburg, SC. What’s cool about the trail system here is that the Ridgeline Trail connects Kings Mountain State Park with Kings Mountain National Military Park in South Carolina and Crowder’s Mountain State Park in North Carolina. We didn’t have enough time or water to make the long hike and I had been to Crowder’s Mountain in March, 2013, so we settled on the 3-mile round trip Farm Trail.

It was another chilly day and one of the lakes was still iced over but I thought Kings Mountain was still a solid park if you’re looking to kill a couple of hours in the woods one afternoon. The trail was a piece of cake and there’s an equestrian center if you’re into that.

State Park Ranking

  1. Chester State Park
  2. Kings Mountain State Park
  3. Landsford Canal State Park
