Last Saturday, I took a tiny trip to Mooresville, NC to the Lazy 5 Ranch for a coworker’s daughter’s birthday party. The downside is that I was the creepy, single guy without kids at a young girl’s birthday party. And I’m pretty sure my old boss’ son is afraid of me since she used me as the scare tactic to get him to stop throwing sand, eat his food, or anything else she wanted him to do at the moment.
But on the plus side, the tab was covered for me to go on a hayride and hang out with animals for five hour!
Hey… you gotta take the bad with the good… I think?
Just some prairie dogs hanging out by the picnic tables
I was told – repeatedly – not to shoot these
A herd of white deer. I thought the guide told us they were from India… but don’t hold me to that
This guy wins the “coolest name at Lazy 5” contest – an aoudad
Potbellied pigs everywhere!
This guy chased our wagon through the whole field for food
Gimme, gimme, gimme!
Hungry, hungry hippos – special bovine edition
Is it obvious these guys are used to being hand fed?
The slobber chased an Indian family to a different part of the wagon
A hungry buffalo
The birthday girl feeding the giraffes
Do you have this much fun on your birthday?
Emu, rhea, rhea (l to r) I believe
Right after I snapped the picture, the macaw grabbed her bucket and dumped food EVERYWHERE!
“Mikemikemikemikemike! What day is it, Mike?”
He was my buddy. He’d take a small bit of food, then want his head scratched and wouldn’t eat again until you helped him out
For those of you who didn’t get my camel reference, enjoy!
